Beautiful, one-of-a-kind typographic map of foods in Canada, arranged around the shape of the country itself. This map is a perfect gift for food, typography, and art lovers, and celebrates Canada with an ode to ingredients and regional favourites from around the country.
Many "foods of Canada" lists include colonial items only, and when building this map I wanted to include Indigenous ingredients and dishes as well. I reached out to several Indigenous people from different parts of the country, both to make sure I was including a cross-section of dishes, and also to ensure the spelling was correct.
I hope it’s a more inclusive map as a result, one that includes the Canada list regulars like poutine, maple syrup, and ice wine, but also items such as pemmican, manomin (wild rice), and three sisters soup that are important to our food history.
