Our eye is immediately drawn to the richly carved back, topped with an out-scrolling rail and adorned with delicate scrolls. The central splat is pierced with an intricate arrangement of scrolls and adorned with a red and gold scene showcasing a Chinese figure carved in low-relief, carrying an object, and walking in front of a low wall accented by a tree on the right. The open arms, presenting exquisite scrolls, are resting on the rectangular wooden seat.

Raised on four straight legs connected to one another through side stretchers and accented with curling spandrels, this antique Chinese chair is appealing from any side.
