Description
"

A tall Chinese Qing Dynasty period compound cabinet from the early 19th century made of oakwood and adorned with brass hardware. Created in China during the early years of the 19th century, this large compound wardrobe features a small upper cabinet presenting a set of double doors. The lower section, of higher proportions, is made of two doors fitted with a brass medallion echoed from the top accented with pierced knobs and teardrop pulls. These doors open to reveal inner shelves offering convenient storage opportunities. The lower section presents four drawers each fitted with a C-scroll handle. Compound cabinets were used for storage.

The top would contain out of season clothing while the main cabinet would be used as a wardrobe for everyday use including bedding and clothes for the season. Th ensemble is raised on four straight legs accented with a carved apron on three sides. With its clean lines and tall proportions, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period compound cabinet circa 1800 will bring a touch of elegance to any home, particularly placed in a bedroom or a living room.
